For several weeks, Brother Louis has not been seen in these parts. At the same time, our neighbor down the block sent out an email to let everyone know about the horrific coyote attack that left her cat for near dead (and cost her a pretty penny for emergency vet bills). I feared the worst . . .
Then, a couple of days ago, I stepped outside with Josie to the back part of the yard and who strolls up, if you please, but el gato negro himself! Well! I was pleased as punch but a closer inspection revealed that Lou had part of his face shaved and stitches put in. I surmise that he was, in fact, attacked - by another cat, by a coyote, who knows? - and was probably cared for by his "real" family down the block. Then, as soon as he was well, he hightailed it back over to our property!
Josie was delighted, although she still has much to learn about pussycats and the fact that when they are appearing as if they want to play, they are actually saying here, doggie, doggie, to lure unsuspecting pups into swatting range . . .
