I received an email from Josie's breeder, who asked me for my testimonial for her web site, Poso Creek Puppies. Of course I would give it to her - look above for the healthy, vibrant and outstanding puppy I purchased from her.
However, she also told me a concerning story. Kim, the breeder, was contacted by a breeder in San Diego who knew her, telling her that a picture of one of her puppies appeared on the web site PetFinder.com, and the person was representing themselves as a breeder in Florida, who was offering the puppy for sale for $400, shipping inlcuded! I suppose they expected the person to send the money to Florida, only to get . . . heaven knows. As an attorney I have advised her to place a copyright on her site, as well as a warning that no material can be used without her permission, and let her know that I will write an "cease and desist" letter she may need.
I know some of you (Tara and Fr. Erik in Utah) are planning purchases of pedigree dogs. This is not so much intended for them, but if you are also planning to do as much, BE CAREFUL! Check with local clubs for the breed to find credentials on the breeder. Go and visit the breeder.
I, for one, can heartily recommend Kim for a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She carefully selects dogs of her own and from other Corgi breeders to match the qualities that make the breed what it is. I have seen her kennels and she is most insistent on maintaining a healthy environment for the mothers and pups, giving them extraordinary medical care. She is also a good person and a Christian lady of good soul.
