My good friend, the Plant Lady, told me about this neat web site for you walkers/joggers/runners out there. If you are trying to figure out how many miles you have gone or need to plan a route while, say, on vacation in an unfamiliar city, go to www.mapmyrun.com. Very easy to use and handy!
Makes me think - I have been focusing on watching what I eat and getting into the habit of exercising regularly, so query: if God set us as stewards over the Earth, and we are created in His image, don't we have an obligation to take care of our bodies as well as we can?
Note I do not suggest that we are failing Him if we don't look like supermodels or carry some extra pounds, because you can be overweight and healthy, just as you can be skinny and sickly. But since all comes from the Lord, I think we have to ask ourselves what we are doing with the gift He made of our bodies.
I think it means this:
Is the extra poundage the result of bad eating habits and skirting with gluttony?
Do you get regular checkups, if not for your own benefit, then for the benefit of your family and those who love you?
Are you too much obsessed with "looking good" rather than "being healthy" - is that pride?
There is no medical benefit to smoking - so why are you holding that cigarette?
Do you take the time to stop and recharge, or do you attend Sunday Mass and worry more about your "to do" list for the week ahead than focusing on the Mystery taking place before you?
Do you consciously choose to be happy?
